From the judges: We really liked the "guide" personalities in this. It felt both well-planned and also authentic. It was great in tone, familiar and comforting and upbeat. I think students and families seeing this should feel good about the college welcoming experience. It did feel like two different videos joined in the middle, so I think some work on transition could be helpful. __

Institution: The College of Idaho
Title of Entry: Welcome Week Video
About this Entry: At the beginning of every Fall semester, students, staff and faculty welcome the newest class to The College of Idaho. The purpose of the video was to show the support that new students receive at the College when they move in and meet their classmates. “Welcome Week” is designed for new students to become better acquainted with college life. The video focuses on the students who have gone through the orientation process before, and are now helping the newest class feel welcomed. The College of Idaho is unique in that every incoming freshman class attends an overnight orientation in scenic McCall located a couple hours north of campus. After the orientation, the hope is that new students no longer feel like strangers. They feel like part of the community. Video recording covered several days.
